June, 2017

June brings calmer, warmer, seas and a wide variety of fish to our waters. Offshore the spinner and black tip sharks are behind the dragging shrimp boats. King and spanish mackerel are feeding along the coast and on area reefs. Amberjack, cobia, barracuda, little tunny, and even sail fish are all available. On the bottom red snapper and grouper are possible catches.

Closer to shore tarpon, large jack crevalle, and bull reds can test your stamina. Pogey pods are migrating along the coast providing ample food for the predators and bait for the fishermen. Large sharks and barracuda lurk in the depths of the Mayport inlet. Slot reds are feeding along the jetty rocks. Ladyfish, jacks, and blues are feeding in the river. Flounder and trout are also potential catches and are excellent eating.

Good fishing!
